Registration Category Descriptions:

Regular Member or Non-Member - Staff, Faculty, Clinicians, Technicians, and other professionals

Post-Doctoral Fellow, Graduate Student, Medical Student, Undergraduate Student - Trainees include Undergraduate Students, Graduate/Medical Students (currently enrolled in a graduate, medical school or other professional degree program), Post-Doctoral Fellows, and Medical Residents or Interns (Fellows who have obtained their doctoral degree within the last five years and are currently enrolled in ongoing training).

Laboratory Research Scientist - Professionals who work as Non-Faculty Laboratory Technicians in hospital and other clinical laboratories – academic or commercial – performing diagnostic work on clinical samples. 

Research Scientist - Professionals who work as Non-Faculty Laboratory technicians in research laboratories – academic, government, industry, or biotech – doing experimental research related to basic science, translational, or clinical problems.

Science Educator - Professionals who primarily teach science, including high school teachers, undergraduate faculty, or faculty within graduate, veterinary, or medical schools.

Lifetime Emeritus - Members who are retired from full-time, professional, employment. 

Meeting Registration Cancellation Policy

Requests for refunds will be honored only if received in writing to Lisa McFadden (Lmcfadden@asip.org) by February 28, 2026. A $50 processing fee will apply to all cancelled registrations.  No-shows and onsite registrations are non-refundable. NO refunds will be given AFTER February 28, 2026.
